Why We’re Different

Hospice of North Idaho has been the community’s only local non-profit hospice and a trusted hospice provider since 1981.  As you will see, we are different than other hospice providers in our area for many reasons, including our expertly trained staff, the length of time we have been providing care, and our ability to offer you or your loved one and family a depth of services unparalleled by anyone else.  One of the most important distinctions between Hospice of North Idaho is that as a non-profit hospice, we offer all of our services to the community regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.

What we offer:

The most hospice experience and expertise in North Idaho

  • We’ve been a trusted hospice agency since 1981, longer than any other hospice provider
  • Over 80% of our staff have certification in hospice and palliative care
  • Our leadership team has over 200 combined years of hospice experience

Two family physicians Board Certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine

  • We are the only hospice to have two Board Certified physicians on our team

The option to use Idaho’s only Hospice House

  • Should you or your loved one require hospice inpatient stays or respite care, Hospice House is available to Hospice of North Idaho patients only

The only community palliative care program

The largest group of specially trained hospice volunteers in North Idaho to offer additional support and resources for our patients

  • Our more than 250 volunteers are crucial to our mission, and provide over 35,000 hours of volunteer service each year
  • We have the area’s only Pet Therapy program with certified dogs and volunteers

The community’s most comprehensive provider of free grief and loss services for children and adults

  • We provide individualized grief services for children, teens, and adults, many support groups for adults, our “Pathways” group program for children and teenagers during the school year, and a summer camp for grieving kids and teens
  • We provide all services at no cost

As a non-profit hospice, all of our high quality services are provided to the entire community, including those without the ability to pay.
