CAMP KANIKSU DAY CAMP

Hospice of North Idaho is proud to offer a unique camp experience to our community’s grieving youth. Camp Kaniksu Day Camp provides an opportunity for grieving children and teens ages 6-16 to participate in a weekend of fun, support, and expression.

What is Camp Kaniksu?

Camp Kaniksu Day Camp is a two-day camp experience provided under the professional direction and supervision of grief counselors, social workers, and trained volunteers from Hospice of North Idaho. Campers will meet others who have also experienced significant loss through the death of someone close. Both structured and non-structured activities are designed to help youth recognize they are not alone in their grief and that having fun is also part of healing. Traditional camp experiences combined with therapeutic activities help bereaved children explore their grief in a safe and supportive environment.

COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Camp Kaniksu is made possible by community volunteers each summer. Our camp volunteers come from all backgrounds. They attend trainings throughout the Spring to prepare for a weekend of fun and healing with our community’s grieving youth. If you are interested in volunteering at Camp Kaniksu, contact us at 208-772-7994 to register for the next New Camp Volunteer Orientation! For more information, email griefsupport@honi.org
