SOCIAL WORK

When life touches loss.

“We’re always asking how we can help make this experience better, easier, and more peaceful.”  Kelly Rey

The unique role of Hospice Social Workers is to walk alongside the family and patient to support social, mental, and spiritual wellness.

The end-of-life journey is an intimate one, not unlike the intimacy of birth.  Our attentive staff ask about our patent’s values and how we can ensure their dignity. We talk about the bumps along the road of life and meaningful relationships. We ask about the family’s available resources to grocery shop, cook, and pay bills while caregiving and after their loved one passes away.  We can provide supportive options to ease the transition.

Social work and spiritual support are a key component of a good ending. Being at peace, in a comfortable environment, without suffering is an attainable and worthy goal.
